Our mission is to inspire and empower women and teens by providing access to mentorship and educational programs that focus on building personal and financial strength. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow in their faith, develop leadership skills, and achieve financial independence. Our goal is to nurture confidence, resilience, and self-sufficiency in every participant. Through our programs, we aim to provide the support and guidance that young women and teens need to overcome challenges, reach their goals, and create a future filled with purpose and opportunity.
What truly differentiates Women in Waiting is our holistic approach to empowerment. While many organizations focus on either spiritual or practical development, we offer a comprehensive program that integrates both. Our unique blend of faith-based mentorship and practical life skills education—such as financial literacy and entrepreneurship training—ensures that women and teens are not only spiritually grounded but also prepared for the challenges of life. We provide a supportive community where individuals are encouraged to grow, held accountable, and celebrated for their progress. Our programs are designed to foster lasting transformation, not only equipping women and teens with the skills they need to succeed but also providing a foundation for lifelong personal growth and leadersh
In 2017, Women in Waiting was founded by Lashawna Bryant as a small faith-based group aimed at encouraging and supporting women through spiritual growth. What began as a personal calling quickly grew into a space where women could connect, share their struggles, and uplift each other in their faith journeys. The group focused on prayer and fellowship, providing a strong foundation in faith to help women navigate life’s challenges.
As the community expanded, so did the vision. Women began asking for more than just spiritual support—they wanted resources for personal growth, financial independence, and leadership. Recognizing this need, our organization evolved to include education and empowerment programs, laying the groundwork for our first conference in 2025. This event marked the beginning of Women in Waiting as a nonprofit organization, formally established in 2025 to offer mentorship, financial literacy workshops, and entrepreneurship training.
Today, our mission continues to grow, providing faith-based guidance, practical tools, and a supportive community for women and teens. From a small faith group to a powerful nonprofit, we are dedicated to empowering women to succeed in all aspects of their lives. The journey is just beginning, and we are excited about the future ahead.
